Key Stage 2 Curriculum
Key Stage 2 children (aged 7-11) are taught in mixed aged classes - From September 2015 we have three 3/4 classes and three 5/6 classes.
We have a lot of experience in teaching mixed year groups and find that there are advantages for children in sometimes being an older pupil in a class and at others being one of the younger ones.
Having the flexibility to change the children around also gives us the opportunity to ensure that they are placed with others with whom they work well. It also tends to give them increased confidence which stands them in good stead when they move on to secondary school.
Our curriculum plan is flexible enough to support the aims of the national curriculum whilst reflecting local and national special events, for example the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the start of the 1st World War in 2014. It has been carefully differentiated to suit the needs of all the children.
